adidas Stan Smith

adidas Stan Smith

Born in 1964 as a tennis shoe, this adidas Stan Smith (previously called Robert Haillet) had a rubber outsole and an upper that replaced the three stripes with three strips of side holes for greater breathability. In 1971 it was given the name of Stan Smith, the most famous tennis player of the moment, and presented a new silhouette with foam reinforcement to protect the Achilles heel. The name and portrait of the tennis player in the tongue popularized the shoe in the 80s, becoming a cult classic of the German brand.

Midsole EVA

EVA is a light, soft and flexible material placed in the midsole of retro-running and lifestyle sneakers, and is used as a cushioning system, in order to avoid harsh impacts after every step. The EVA terms stands for the material's technical name, ethylene-vinyl acetate.

GORE-TEX

A product equipped with GORE-TEX technology offers three key advantages: impermeability, wind protection and breathability. This system consists in a membrane with pores, smaller than a water drop, but bigger than a steam molecule. It blocks the passing of snow and rain and helps sweat deliverance at the same time.
