About the adidas Stan Smith

About the adidas Stan Smith

Born in 1964 as tennis shoes, the Stan Smith Recon were known as the Robert Haillet. This type of sneakers features a rubber outsole and an upper where the three stripes are replaced with perforated bands for enhanced transpiration. In 1971, following Haillet's retirement, they were named Stan Smith, as a tribute to the best tennis player of the season. The model was redesigned by adding a rubber reinforcement on the collar. The name and persona of that tennis player became famous during the 80s and as of now the Smith are one of the world best-selling model of the German brand.
