About the adidas Stan Smith

About the adidas Stan Smith

Launched in 1964 as tennis footwear, the Stan Smith W were initially known as the Robert Haillet. This model comes with a rubber outsole and an upper where the three stripes are replaced with perforations to improve the ventilation of the feet. In 1971, following Haillet's retirement, their name changed to Stan Smith, as a tribute to the best tennis player of that year. The sneaker was renewed by adding a rubber reinforcement on the collar. The name and persona of that tennis player became famous during the 80s and as of now the Smith are one of the most renowned, best-selling model of the three-striped brand.
