Break limits with Nike Zoom Fly

On the 6th of may 2017, Kenyan runner, Eliud Kipchoge was prepared to tackle a historic mark in running history: run a sub 2-hour marathon. To realize this journey, Nike accompanied Kipchoge with a pair of running shoes from their new line designed for runners; the Nike Zoom Fly. It was with these shoes he faced Breaking2

Breaking2 Athletes

Before the cameras of National Geographic, Kipchoge began to run. Stride after stride, the marathon runner inched closer to breaking the two hour mark, but it would not be. His 2:00:25 time left him just shy of being the first athlete to run a sub 2-hour marathon. However, Kipchonge's efforts were not all in vain; thanks to his dedication and the months of studies, preparation, and training he lent to Nike, the brand was able to develop the perfect running shoes for athletes and running enthusiasts alike.

The new Nike Zoom Fly form part of Nike's triple launch motivated by their Breaking2 event. They aspired to break the 2-hour mark in marathon running, and while they did not succeed, left us with three running shoes that have inherited the technology developed to confront this monumental goal.

Nike has managed to blend sport and fashion with the Nike Zoom Fly. Despite their aesthetic qualities, they are still destined for running on asphalt, a surface where their high capacity is tested thanks to Lunarlon cushioning; a firm and soft foam, which offers balance and stability without sacrificing comfort or power.

The Lunarlon midsole also houses a carbon-infused nylon plate that delivers a propulsive sensation, which is complemented by the light, Flywire upper which reinforces support as speed is increased. The Nike Zoom Fly also shares materials from the other two references launched by Nike for this demanding sport event; the Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4%  and the Nike Zoom Air Pegasus 34.

For Nike it was important to cross the Breaking2 finish line in less than two hours, and although they did not succeed, they accompanied elite runner, Shalane Flanagan, in the New York Marathon via the Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4%. These pair of shoes were so important to her, that the night before the race, Flanagan awoke in a state of panic having dreamed that someone was trying to steal them from her. The next morning, the marathon runner became the first American woman to win the Big Apple marathon in more than 40 years with a final race time of 2:26:53.

The Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4% have shown that they are the best companions for an elite runner with a total weight of 184 grams, achieved thanks to a minimal structure and their high performance Flyknit coating, they have combined their lightness with one of the secret weapons of any expert runner: the sole.

Composed of a midsole made of Nike Zoom X foam, which allows for the transfer of necessary energy with each propulsion to a unidirectional carbon plate, they have achieved a performance improvement of 4% for the athlete. What does this mean? You can run at your usual pace for longer, but using 4% less effort. A 4% that could be crucial in helping you cross the finish line.

For short mileage or race days, it is undeniable that the technology behind the shoes, plus their attractive colors make them an excellent option for your weekly training schedule or most gruelling marathon to date. Get your pair of Nike Zoom Fly at sivasdescalzo now.
