Nyjah Huston unveils his first sneaker collaboration with Nike SB

Nike SB Nyjah Free

If every generation has its skate idols, the current one looks to Nyjah Huston for inspiration; a guy who at just 23 years of age has accumulated 20 victories in Street League Skateboarding. Although not on one of the top slots, he appears on the Forbes list of the most highly paid athletes and now he has just dropped his first sneaker with Nike SB.

In early 2016, Nyjah joined the Nike SB team and since then has used various sneakers of the brand, while developing his own. This new release now puts him amongst a select group of individuals formed by Eric Koston, Paul Rodriguez and Stefan Janoski, three skating legends each with their own distinct styles and names tied to Nike SB. Their models are also completely different, while the era of PRod and Koston did not shy away from using new Nike technologies, Janoski opted for a timeless silhouette, which has converted itself into an authentic classic far beyond the skateboarding community.

With a clear inspiration in two classic Nike icons, Free and Presto, Nyjah has sought to unite two concepts which typically are at odds with one another - a sneaker that is comfortable from its first use and noted for its durability. Nike found the answer in a new rubber used in uppers and which would be perfect for Nyjah's demands. The laser cuts on the lateral and middle zones of the sneaker offer breathability, while paying homage to Presto as an inspiration for the shoe.

It took two years of development to finally land the finished product, the Nike SB Nyjah, which is presented officialy via a gory and tense video with music by Meek Mill, Huncho Jack, Travis Scott and Quavo.
