Air Max Plus: its origins

It was a trip to the Florida coast in 1997 that inspired designer Sean McDowell to come up with the silhouette of the Nike Air Plus, which would go on to make their first appearance in 1998. They became one of Nike’s most successful trainers, breaking all the brand’s sales records. The Air Max TN, aka. The Air Max Plus, are made unique by a number of elements. But it is the Swoosh that catches the eye, as it appears slimmer and longer on this model, as McDowell had to freestyle the emblem as he wasn’t shown how to draw it. The designer also added reflective elements on the front for improved visibility, along with light mesh for durability and breathability and the ‘Tuned Air’ unit on the sole for premium comfort and enhanced cushioning. The model is completed with a rubber outsole for double traction and TPU details all-over.
