In 1908, Marquis Mills Converse founded the Converse Rubber Shoe Company, a company that specialized in rubber-soled shoes. One of his earliest designs was the “Chuck Taylor” All Star, a basketball shoe that player Charles H. "Chuck" Taylor wore during some of his most crucial games. The Converse chucks effortlessly managed to gain widespread international recognition as the shoe of choice in the sports scene of the time and has remained high in the ranking till today. In 1921, Taylor joined Converse, becoming the first player ambassador for America, basketball and, of course, the All Star.
