ADIDAS CONSORTIUM TORSION TRDC, TRAIL’S BACK

During the latest adidas Consortium season they shifted their view towards the depths of their archive. The collaborative efforts that had become usual for adidas Consortium are now becoming representations of some of their designs, recovered in the most accurate of ways.

To celebrate the Torsion System’s 30 years, adidas Consortium is recovering part of its history, that has been evolving at the same time that sports did too. It was originally created as a TPU piece with a characteristic design, it ended up slowly but surely turning into a complete system that wrapped the foot from the inside. The goal was always the same; allowing for the front and back parts of the foot to adapt themselves to the ground in an independent way.

The first approach by adidas Consortium has been with the saga ZX, the first one to use the Torsion system. In this occasion, they are recovering the dark silhouette designed for trail running, a trend that by the end of the nineties jumped out of its natural habitat, the mountain, to the world of fashion, an unexpected turn that is currently repeating itself.

In its original forms, the adidas Trediac (renamed as the current TRDC) placed itself as the most advanced trail running model; EVA midsole, Adiprene heel for a great absorption of impact, external Traxion rubber and, of course, a new version of the Torsion system that was inserted in the midsole, which surrounded the middle part of the foot. Staying away from usual trail running sneaker colourways, it used innovative blue ombré and the indispensable Torsion yellow.

The final result is a testimony to the durability of adidas’ trail lines, which still look current two decades later.
