SVD x adidas Superstar feat The Voodoo Club

The iconic adidas Superstar celebrates its 50th Anniversary, and at Sivasdescalzo we celebrate that with a short film that captures The Voodoo Club's spirit, with the help of the creative studio Querida, the director María Sosa and the photographer Iñigo Viñas.

Versatility, innovation and diversity. These are the three coordinates that have been guiding the adidas Superstar for the five decades in which it has remained an icon of style for different generations, and very different ones to be honest. Yet, curiously, these three coordinates are also the same ones that led The Voodoo Club to become one of Barcelona's not-to-be-missed date.

And to think that this club was born, in 2018, with the intention of shedding light on the poor representation of African residents in the Ciudad Condal. Now as before, their idea is still about taking the avant-garde (current and future) music from Africa and making it the basis for a good handful of mythical nights that, for now, have little to none intention of calling it quit.

It's no surprise, then, that the founder of The Voodo Club, Wekaforé Jibril, is the narrator of Sivasdescalzo's short film -a film in which we wanted to pay tribute to the 50 years of history of the adidas Superstar. For the occasion, we partnered with the local creative studio Querida Studio, the director María Sosa and the photographer Iñigo Viñas. A private event with few attendees, no more than 50 people, was the perfect excuse to capture The Voodoo Club's ability to leave its mark in Barcelona through music, dance and art. A talent that perfectly mirrors how the Superstar left its own mark in history by using the same elements and being guided by the same values. At the end of the day, we are talking about creative minds capable of challenging set limits to promote change and innovation... Don't you think?
