NBHD AESTHETIC APPROACHES TO SUMMER

Since its creation in the nineties, in the middle of the explosion of products from the Harajuku district in Tokyo, Neighborhood has managed to mix creative references from its founder Shinsuke Takizawa, a bike lover who knows how to choose his masters; he had developed a career as a graphic designer for Major Force, Hiroshi Fujiwara’s record label.

At the same time that Neighborhood began to grow, Shinsuke Takizawa started appropriating references that had to do with American designs, punk or the biker culture from the fifties and sixties. Through collaborations and new projects, NBHD’s universe started to acquire different complementary accounts that provoked the creation of different lines.

NBHD is showing again several of their creative skills in their summer collection. Workwear, military inspirations, counterculture and the outdoors aesthetic continue to be referenced at Shinsuke Takizawa’s brand, approaches from different perspectives that create five internal collections; Protect and Survive (industrial aesthetic), Harmanos (inspired by Latin cultures), Timber (military), Specimen Research Laboratory (inspired by urban landscaping) and Big City (urban details).

Instead of blurring NBHD’s main idea, these five collections support the central aesthetic of the brand to support its growth.

Five aesthetic approaches to the same universe that shares urban and outdoor environments, graphic creations and prints, references to the past with Harajuku in the centre and a future that’s escaping from the apocalypse.
