NIKE AIR MAX 720, THE NEW LEGEND INSPIRED BY NATURE

Nike’s Air Max family has just introduced in society its newest member, the Nike Air Max 720. To celebrate this, in Sivasdescalzo we join forces with METAL Magazine: since last week our competition where different creatives who reside in Spain have reinterpreted the sneaker has been in full swing. Here we show your our five finalists, and you can vote for your favourite one on METAL’s IG; the three best will be shown in an exhibition which we’ll do in our Barcelona store next Friday, February 1st, where also Laskaar will do a showcase and will also turntables with HJ Darger.

A new Nike Air Max model always goes hand in hand with an implicit aesthetic revolution. The sportswear brand knows that the versions of their Air Max end up becoming icons of their time, and that’s why presenting silhouettes that later become sneaker culture myths require handling with the utmost care. And it that happens with, for example, the latest family addition: the Nike Air Max 720, as its 360º design is the closest thing to a cot that your feet will ever happen to step on.

After all, the new Nike Air Max 720 can boast of having the tallest Air bag in history, which helps when examining the height of the incomparable silhouette (38mm against the 36mm from the prior Nike Air Max 720). Does this sound all-too-technical? This could be further from the sneaker’s intention, as their first versions’ chromatic palette were actually inspired by nature. More precisely, in the movement of radiant energy, that energy that is seen in electromagnetic waves like the ones that are seen in light or UV rays.

In the near future, we’ll see newer versions inspired by the flow of lava, the aurora borealis, the Milky Way, sunsets or sunrises. But, until then, we have to honour the fact that the Nike Air Max 720 are already here with us, and from Sivasdescalzo we want to celebrate this very special occasion by associating ourselves with METAL magazine, an action that has encouraged creatives from our country to offer their own version of this new model by adapting it into their own art. We’ve received all types of proposals which, in the last few weeks, have encouraged Instagram with the hashtag #720creativechallenge .

Illustration, video, 3D art and even a choreography are some of the most fascinating versions in which some of the most creative minds in our country have presented to our competition. After seeing each one of them, a jury comprised by members of Sivasdescalzo and METAL have chosen five finalists: the illustrations by Venon and Paula del Estal, the 3D film by Héctor Luján, the choreography by the girls from STPRS, and the ceramic sculpture by Vito Montolio . You have all the information in the METAL website. Now you have the power: there will only be three winners, and they’ll be those who obtain the biggest amount of likes on METAL Magazine’s Instagram account. You have until 23:59h today to participate with your vote.

And what will be the prize for this competition? On top of a pair of fire  Air Max 720, the winners will see their work shown in an exhibition which will be held next Friday, February 1st from 19h to 22h at the Sivasdescalzo Barcelona store (Bailén, 18). There we’ll count with the support from Laskaar who’ll show his stylised nu-R&B, whilst HJ Darger will turntables and will gift us the cherry to top this celebration in which we honour the newest Nike classic.
