The Nike Joyride cushioning system consists of thousands of microspheres that move freely on the inside of capsules. Nike tried up to 150 materials until landing on TPE, a copolymer made of plastic and rubber that offers 14% more impact absorption. These microspheres are placed on independent capsules on the midsole, to prevent them from expanding in all directions.
NIKE JOYRIDE EXTENDS ITS COLLECTION WITH TWO NEW MODELS
Air, Zoom, Shox, React… the history of Nike has been linked to the development of technologies that are focused on cushioning. The latest innovation to be incorporated into Nike’s collections is Joyride, a completely different concept that is designed for active recovery through the personalised experience of the absorption of impact.
Each one of these capsules is designed keeping in mind the impact against the floor when it’s in movement, with a unit of a larger size in the area of the heel to absorb the impact, other smaller ones throughout the foot are there to improve the transition and one is at the end for the toe area.
The result is a type of dynamic insole that adapts itself to each footstep by allowing for the capsules to move and absorb the impact with a unique sensation, closer to a massage than classic cushioning. A cushioning system that is perfect for relaxed rhythms and recovering days for runners, but also for anyone who wants to maintain that resting sensation, which is why Nike has created two new silhouettes.
Nike Joyride NSW Setter was officially presented in Alyx’s collection on Paris Fashion Week SS20, it completely renews the upper rubber holes and the pieces that are superimposed to ensure greater stability. The midsole contains three visible capsules from the exterior which include TPE microcapsules.
Nike Joyride NSW Optik is a model that is designed specifically for women, its shape has been specially designed with women’s feet morphology in mind. They have gotten rid of laces and they have redesigned it to create the perfect adjustment thanks to a zipper. The midsole is redimensioned to give greater height at the heel, facilitating a unique posture that complements the Joyride’s cushioning qualities.
