Pharrell had made a name for himself through music and Nigo through his connection to fashion, but their interests intersected and went beyond that, they were both interested in pop culture, music and fashion were just ways of explaining all of that.
PHARRELL AND NIGO, WORKING TOGETHER FOR ADIDAS

The encounter between Pharell Williams and Nigo was more than a casual thing. When Pharrell visited Japan for the first time in 2001, he already knew of Nigo through Jacob, the jeweller that made pieces for both of them and who thought they had much in common.
On his first trip to Tokyo, Pharrell was looking for a recording studio which ended up being the Human Made Studio, Nigo’s operations centre in which he discovered so much more. It was a type of museum in which Nigo kept a part of pop culture history, The Beatles’ instruments, art pieces, historic clothing items, toys, arcades, sneakers and jewels. It was the start of a relationship that has taken them to collaborate in music and fashion, to create brands and form alliances with Louis Vuitton, Uniqlo and, of course, adidas.
Their new collaboration puts the focus in Human Race and Human Made, two creative platforms by Pharrell and Nigo that have a lot of heart. The collection includes Tennis Hu, Solar Hu and Hu NMD, each one with premium construction and details inspired by the image of Human Made.
