THE NEW SNEAKERS' OBSESSION FOR JEWELRY

Gucci, Reebok, Comme des Garçons, Nike, FILA... Many are the brands that are approaching jewelry to incorporate the wow factor into their sneakers. And best of all is that, seen as seen, it seems that this trend has just begun and that the best is yet to come.
Reebok has just relaunched its Question Mid Double Cross model with a campaign that has been pure tribute to the figure of Allen Iverson , a mythical former NBA professional player. For the occasion, it has partnered with Martine Ali , a new generation jeweler who has long since gained a position in current fashion, especially due to her maximalist vision of chains. It is not strange, then, that the entente cordiale between Reebok and Ali has ended up with a fascinating shoe tuned for the occasion with chains and clips. The excuse has been that Iverson himself was very fond of showing off in chains very close to those designed by Martine.
But, then, what is the excuse of the rest of the fashion area? Because you only need to have eyes on your face to realize that both brands and designers are experiencing a particular obsession with the world of jewelry. There is Nike partnering with AMBUSH , no matter how much in this collaboration there was very little jewel and a lot of refined brand design of Yoon Ahn 's house. But, above all, there is another visionary without which it would be impossible to explain all this trend (and many other current trends, of course): Alessandro Michele and the essential Flastrek . Gucci sneakers surrounded by strips with large crystals as a jewel have become an icon of the chunky almost at the height of Balenciaga 's Triple S .

We must recognize, of course, that Michele was neither the first nor the only one. Obviously. It may be because the jewels seem eternally linked to the exhibitionist pomp and lavish ostentation, but it was clear that sooner or later we would see the approach to jewelry by brands such as Versace (which, for now, has been limited to a golden chain with charms) or Dolce & Gabbana (with an impressive fondness for all-over Swarovskis). But this is only one face, the most brazen, of a trend that has its most interesting and eloquent goldsmiths in figures like Martine Ali, Gucci or, now also, COMME des GARÇONS . Rei Kawakubo has twisted the Nike Shox to incorporate a metal chain with a pendant that shows off the name of her brand.

And so on and so forth. Every week there are news about jewelry and sneakers. The latest of all has been the collaboration between FILA and Miansai , a firm known for its bracelets with hooks that are now incorporated into both the Targa model for men and the well-known Disruptor for women. What forces to ask: What's next? Because it is clear that this does not end here...
