Taka Hayashi investigates Vans codes

One of the most anticipated Vault by Vans collections is the one that periodically pairs it with Taka Hayashi, an artist with a wide palette of inspirations and references.

Artisanal, urban and respectful of history, Taka Hayashi's collections with Vault by Vans tell a lot about the Californian artist's creative process and inspiration.

Born in Yokohama and raised in Santa Monica, his is a story of an approach to American culture from different perspectives, always visible in his collaborations with Vans: Native American crafts, Californian skate style, Hawaiian floral art or military uniforms. Always with a look that compares those influences with the work of local communities around the world.

The new collaboration Vault by Vans x Taka Hayashi is inspired by the QR code aesthetics, in an evident nod to the classic Vans checkerboard, that also appears on the SK8-lo LX and Style 47 LX midsole. Following more classic lines, the Style 98 LX comes back from the nineties catalog in a premium reissue, leaving the color for the waffle sole.
