adidas Originals and Craig Green release their first collaboration

British designer Craig Green partners with adidas to present a collaborative project focused on experimentation. The first drop consists of two new silhouettes and colorways, first on display at the London Fashion Week.

Since its first collection, Craig Green has been playing with sculptures and artistic creation much more than what is expected from a fashion brand. As a matter of fact, Craig Green arrived at Central Saint Martins with the intention of studying sculpture -something that won't surprise anyone who knows his creations.

His silhouettes, as well as the concepts behind them, are both risky and challenging, sophisticated and utilitarian. His most sculptural side really shines through his accessories, that blend in with the garments themselves. Something that persisted into his collaboration with adidas. By the words of Craig Green himself, footwear is like sculpture. It’s open up to possibilities that are unthinkable in clothes.

The first drop of the collaboration between adidas Originals and Craig Green focuses on two new styles, CG Kontuur I and CG Kontuur II, designed on two classic silhouettes, the Kamanda and the Ozweego. In both cases the concept on which the soles were conceived was enhanced. Now the pattern of the Kamanda’s sole and the sinuous and profiled forms of the Ozweego’s continue through the upper. Two creations that blend functionality and experimentation through design.

The pictures that accompany the first release are the result of Green's collaboration with one of his usual photographers, Dan Tobin Smith (who has also worked for adidas, Jay Z, Absolut, Dior and Rimowa). Together they have developed a visual language that dissects the central idea of each sneaker from the collaboration, and deconstruct them to turn them into anatomical sculptures.
